FLOOD ZONE REQUIREMENTS, Village of Ottawa

The Village of Ottawa is a National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) participant.  This translates into flood insurance premium savings for residents.  As a requirement of NFIP participation, Ottawa enforces a flood ordinance that governs construction in the flood plain. The zoning department can help assess compliance with both the zoning code and the flood ordinance.

For further information concerning the NFIP and Flood Hazard Areas in Ottawa and Putnam County, please visit FEMA's official website of the National Flood Insurance Program at this link: http://www.floodsmart.gov/floodsmart/pages/index.jsp

To speak with someone from the Village regarding flood issues, please call (419) 523-5020, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

To view elevation certificates available from 1988 to the present, visit the Village Offices at 136 North Oak Street, Ottawa, Ohio, or phone (419) 523-5020 during regular business hours to have information mailed, e-mailed or faxed.

Computer Data Recovery
Professor and Students at Defiance College offer services.
Gregg Gunsch teaches the Computer Forensics major at Defiance College.  "My students and I would like to help people, businesses, schools, and government offices with recovering data from their flooded computers.  We will exercise due diligence to recover what we can, damage nothing further, and protect the confidentiality of the information and participants.  We cannot guarantee to be able to recover all desired data due to the extent of damage, but our service is free and has a good chance of succeeding."

FEMA pulled out of the local Ottawa Office on September 27, But the last day to register for aid with FEMA was:
October 26, 2007.
SBA Have now left the area as well.

Over and over again, it is said that if FEMA or SBA denies any benefit, you should ALWAYS follow up, often times their are circumstances or incorrect information or paperwork causing issues that cause the denial. The officials will gladly go over the paper work with you, so don't give up on the first try, try again, and again if you need to.
